A new system has been released to give users of home energy monitors accurate, billing-compatible usage information. Current Cost, a global manufacturer of home energy monitors, has launched its OptiSmart optical reader and transmitter with the aim of giving new and existing users an even clearer picture of their domestic electricity consumption.
The technology works by continually counting the digital pulses of electric LED impulse meters, for an accurate real-time reading. The information is then transmitted directly to the Current Cost EnviR energy monitor and can be further analysed and interpreted using the Current Cost web dashboard.
“As energy prices continue to rise, home energy monitors are more important than ever in helping householders understand and identify how energy may be being wasted,” says Current Cost’s managing director, Martin Dix. “OptiSmart technology provides users with meter reading functionality which, in turn, gives an accurate picture of energy consumption.”
