Transense Technologies plc (“Transense”) (AIM: TRT), a provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, has announced that its trading division, IntelliSAW, a provider of next generation wireless sensor systems for smart grid applications, has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with EL PE Engineers (“EL PE”), headquartered in Vadodara, India.
EL PE currently provides advanced systems technology and engineering support for the electric power industry and as part of this agreement will provide exclusive distribution for IntelliSAW’s wireless/passive temperature monitoring system in the Indian market. In return for exclusive terms EL PE has agreed to a minimum revenue target over the next two years of USD $375K.
Existing critical power infrastructure in India is coming under increasing pressure in a period of growth in demand for power. IntelliSAW’s easy to deploy, continuous monitoring solution addresses a number of deficiencies in existing switch gear monitoring solutions, enabling improved power performance of the electricity plant.
IntelliSAW’s proprietary system is wireless and does not require any power to the sensors, affording ease of installation and commissioning while avoiding introducing any arcing or flashover concerns. Moreover the IntelliSAW system outputs data directly onto existing communication networks using standard protocols, allowing for instantaneous monitoring and control.
Ashok Bhavsar, CEO of EL PE Engineers, said: “We view IntelliSAW as a strong strategic fit with our current business. As the distributor of Doble products in India we see great synergy in adding IntelliSAW products to our portfolio. Our team is ready to leverage these strengths across India’s electric power industry.”
Graham Storey, CEO of Transense, commented, “IntelliSAW is pleased to add EL PE Engineering to its expanding distributor network. EL PE has considerable expertise with electrical asset management solutions and will manage the installation and after sales support of our switchgear monitoring systems for the Indian power industry. This decision serves to further our overall strategy to implement strong coverage in emerging markets. We anticipate healthy growth of our business working in partnership with EL PE.”
