Wyless acquires majority stake in engineering firm ClearConnex

Wyless, a leading global Machine to Machine (M2M) managed services provider has announced that it has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in ClearConnex Inc, a wireless M2M device engineering company based in Research Triangle Park, NC., USA.

ClearConnex provides end-to-end engineering services including board level design, embedded software, project management, outsourced technical support and certification services. ClearConnex also has a licensable device management software platform, ClearComm, that speeds the development of applications in many of the most popular integrated platforms. The acquisition by Wyless includes a strategic investment in ClearConnex in order to accelerate its market position in engineering services as well as the development and adoption of the ClearComm as a leading device management protocol.

Ryan Rangel, who has run ClearConnex, since he founded the company four years ago, joins Wyless as VP of Engineering Services and will continue to run the day to day operations of the company as a subsidiary of Wyless.

“The addition of Clearconnex to the Wyless Group of companies and Ryan Rangel to our management team brings us one step closer to being a full end-to-end M2M Managed Services Provider,” said Dan McDuffie, CEO Wyless. “Ryan will work with Wyless to promote Engineering Services through ClearConnex, to further develop ClearComm, integrating it with Porthos and to assist Wyless partners in getting to market faster. We are really excited to roll out this new menu of engineering services through our investment in ClearConnex”

Ryan Rangel added: “This is a natural next step that builds on the close working relationship that ClearConnex has developed with Wyless and our joint customers over the past 18 months. I see this as an opportunity to continue to promote our “Start Ahead, Finish Ahead” philosophy and to introduce new service offerings from Wyless including bundling network services with our products and engineering services “
