GCT Semiconductor, a designer and supplier of 4G mobile semiconductor solutions, announced that its 4G LTE single-chip, GDM7240, powers a new LTE M2M module, commercially available with LGU+, a telecommunication service provider in Korea.
GDM7240 is a field-proven LTE single-chip solution ideally suited to meet the rapidly growing demands for higher data speed, low power consumption, higher mobility, enhanced applications and global roaming.
“The demand for LTE data services in South Korea is rapidly increasing since our LTE commercial launch in July 2011,” said David C.B. Choi, device development unit, Vice President of LGU+. “We are pleased to be collaborating with GCT and extend our line of commercial products by offering this new LTE M2M module. We look forward to a continued relationship with GCT as we work together to develop additional LTE applications.”
As new LTE networks are being deployed worldwide, there is a growing convergence between LTE and M2M, which offers benefits such as faster data rates, lower latency, and longevity, an important benefit for devices that have long lifecycles. LGU+’s LTE M2M module is ideally suited for point-of-sale terminals, automotive, remote monitoring and tracking, etc.
GCT’s GDM7240 has been selected for commercial use in terminal devices deployed by the leading LTE operators in the U.S. and various markets worldwide.
