Cyan increases operations in India and appoints new Country Manager

John Cronin, Cyan's executive chairman

Cambridge, UK – Cyan, an integrated system and software design company that delivers mesh-based flexible wireless systems for utility metering and lighting control, has appointed Shiv Kaushik as its Country Manager in India.

Mr Kaushik, who has more than 18 years of experience with leading IT companies, has joined Cyan to help build key relationships in the energy and utility sector in India. Kaushik has experience in this sector selling software-based solutions for companies such as Oracle, Wipro and Ferranti. While employed in senior business development roles in India, Kaushik worked with system integrators and utilities to manage the deployment of the IT based systems required for the implementation of energy management solutions.

Furthermore, Cyan has recruited two local senior field application engineers to provide additional customer and technical support in India.

In addition to the recruitment of field-based personnel, Cyan is also qualifying additional manufacturing facilities in the form of two India-based Tier-1 contract equipment manufacturers. Both manufacturers are global companies offering a comprehensive range of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) services and they hold ISO 9001 and other regulatory certificates. Part of the qualification process is a pre-production build to verify quality and performance. These additional manufacturing facilities will work in parallel with the current production in China to meet volume demands going forward.

John Cronin (pictured above), executive chairman of Cyan, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Shiv and the application engineers to Cyan. As demand grows for Cyan’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure solutions, it is necessary for Cyan to develop partnerships with industry leaders who can provide the knowledge and expertise. We are also pleased to be adding additional manufacturing capacity to meet local demand in India.”

Cyan’s technology provides innovative solutions that are designed to reduce energy consumption for the utility and lighting markets. They include CyNet™, CyLec® and CyLux®. CyNet™ is a wireless mesh networking protocol for scalable and secure communication with remote units as well as Cyan’s enterprise software for full end-to-end system integration. CyLec® is Cyan’s smart metering solution for energy utilities. It is said by Cyan to provide a robust, scalable and integrated platform that enables utilities to transform existing power grid infrastructure into the smart grid. CyLux® is Cyan’s energy-efficient smart lighting solution. It enables significant power savings by optimising the way in which public lighting is managed.

Together with Cyan’s system integrator partners, the company provides first class support, managed services and software as a service (SaaS) to assist in the planning and integration of its solutions.

Cyan is based in Cambridge, UK and has been listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) since 2005.
