Kazan, Russia – It has just been announced that the emergency response system, ERA GLONASS, has been successfully tested in Kazan. The test was carried out in combination with a mobile units management system, which has been established in the city. The results clearly showed that the usage of ERA GLONASS can substantially reduce the emergency services’ response time to accidents.
In the test, the emergency call was automatically transmitted via the in-vehicle telematics device to the Regional Centre for Emergency Response. Key information, including the vehicle identification number (VIN), the location of the vehicle, as well as the time and place of the accident was then sent to the Police Control Centre in Kazan, which was then able to contact the patrol in closest proximity to the scene of the accident.
“We are rapidly expanding the infrastructure of the ERA GLONASS system across Russia, with the aim of covering the whole country by the end of 2013,” said Alexander Gurko, the President of the Non-commercial Partnership. “The tests we have carried out with ERA GLONASS and eCALL are vital for ensuring the successful operation of the ERA GLONASS over the coming months.”
