Remote patient monitoring products with GSM connections aim for growing telehealth market

August 21, 2013) — MedicPen’s range of computerised medical reminder and pill dispenser products are to be given GSM mobile network connections by M2M wireless network specialists, Stream Communications. The products enable medical specialists and carers to efficiently supervise and monitor patient’s drug schedule remotely.

Stream Communications delivers an end-to-end communications network for machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions across the globe. To maintain a patient’s well-being it is vital that the GSM network delivers reliable connections. Integrating and partnering with Tier-1 operators around the world, Stream’s technology is said to offer a resilient and reliable connection for fast delivery of data.

Telehealth products

Swedish-based company, MedicPen, manufactures connected healthcare and drug dispenser products, designed to improve prescription compliance with medication intake. Its computerised dispensers work across industriesand healthcare sectors such as pharmaceutical (clinical trials), medical, and care homes, as well as offering peace of mind to home-based patients.

MedicPen introduced the world’s first computerised pill dispenser that is especially designed for the pharmaceutical industry. The company’s solutions not only optimise the dosage of medication during clinical trials, they also makes it easier for individual patients to follow their drug schedule. MedicPen is designed for everyday use by pharmacists, carers, medical representatives, and patients.

Stream is a UK-based M2M network service provider. The company has provided enhanced mobile network resilience, connectivity and SIM/network management to the M2M sector since 2000. Stream offers multiple mobile network services in the UK and overseas to the M2M sector. Oasys II is Stream’s SIM management and billing platform which facilitates online management of small and large SIM volumes. This combines with high-resilience off-mast network infrastructure and architecture.
