Leading German retailer launches geo’s smart home energy products in store and online
Cambridge, UK and Hirschau, Germany – geo is proud to announce that leading German electronics superstore and distributor, Conrad, is now selling geo’s full suite of in-home smart electricity products.
For the first time, customers in Germany are able to buy geo products in store and online, benefiting from Conrad’s highly successful 24/7, multi-channel retail strategy. Conrad has 25 stores located throughout Germany, as well as a comprehensive web store.
The geo system consists of three compatible/interoperable products, which may be purchased on their own or as part of an integrated solution. Firstly, the Ensemble Colour display – which retails at a price of €99 – monitors in-home electricity consumption in real time. Secondly, smart plugs measure and control the electricity used by individual appliances. Finally, the internet bridge connects the display and plugs to the customer’s domestic broadband router, enabling the entire system to be connected via the internet to geo’s cloud-based web service, energynote®.
With energynote®, customers can monitor their energy usage from a range of devices, including their mobile phone, computer, laptop or tablet. With live, real-time data at their fingertips, users can make informed decisions to optimise their personal use of electricity in the home.
Geo’s CEO Patrick Caiger-Smith observes: “Working with Conrad is a major achievement on our path to making the latest smart energy technology available and affordable for people to purchase directly. In the face of rising energy prices, we strongly believe that geo products help people to help themselves, by giving them the information they need, when they need it, about how they are using energy at home. As everyone knows, we are all using more and more electronic devices and appliances, which has an impact on our energy bills. In a sense, geo products ‘switch the light on’, so people can easily see what is happening at home”.
