Cubic Telecom signs global agreement with China Unicom to deliver M2M solutions

Cubic Telecom, has announced that it has signed a global agreement with China Unicom, to provide machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions to enterprises across mainland China and Hong Kong.

China Unicom will utilise key elements of Cubic Telecom’s Global Cloud Platform, including its enterprise mobility management suite, its real-time billing and rating engine, robust APIs, and OTA capabilities, to bring best in class M2M solutions to enterprises, and in turn, to the end user customer. Cubic Telecom has a proven track record of bringing M2M services, software and connectivity to Fortune 500 companies in the PC OEM, retail and automotive sectors.

 “Cubic Telecom was honoured to welcome President Lu Yimin and his team of senior leaders to Dublin to strengthen the ties between the two organisations,” said Barry Napier, CEO of Cubic Telecom. “This was President Lu’s first visit to Ireland, and we were able to solidify our commitment to working together by signing this important global agreement. The partnership between the two companies will allow us to expand our footprint in mainland China and Hong Kong, and provide proven M2M/IOT solutions to companies on a global basis.”

Cubic Telecom also facilitated meetings between President Lu, his team and members of the Irish Government, as well as with senior business leaders from Irish organisations across the telecom and the IT sectors, including:

  • A meeting between President Lu, his team and An Taoiseach/Prime Minister of Ireland Mr. Enda Kenny, at Government buildings to discuss the importance of the strong business partnership between China Unicom and Cubic.
  • A meeting between President Lu, his team and Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, a key investor in Cubic Telecom.
  • Meetings with Irish business and technology, including Mr Denis O’Brien, chairman of Digicel Group, and Mr Larry Quinn, chairman of Accuris Networks, to further strengthen trade and investment links between the two countries.
  • A private dinner for the China Unicom delegation hosted by the ambassador of China to Ireland, his excellency Mr Jianguo Xu, and his wife, held at the ambassador’s residency in Dublin.

The three-day visit culminated with the signing of the global agreement between Cubic Telecom and China Unicom during a private meeting with Mr. Richard Bruton, minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, and the chinese ambassador Jianguo Xu at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
