oneM2M, the global standards initiative for M2M and the Internet of Things (IoT), will present a unique series of live demonstrations and presentations at its first showcase event on Tuesday 9th December 2014, in Sophia Antipolis, France. The demonstrations  focus on real-life capabilities of the oneM2M specifications, as applied to smart homes, connected cars, home energy, smart cities, healthcare and business applications.

The keynote speaker for the event is Aapo Markkanen from ABI Research. Aapo will give an overview of the M2M market including the latest research and trends and the current status of deployments. He will indicate how these need to be scaled for the market to develop and how oneM2M specifications can play a part in this.

The ESMIG, Sierra Wireless, Vodafone, Kamstrup, Qualcomm, GridPocket and the LAAS-CNRS will demonstrate how the home energy market can combine the oneM2M specifications with existing smart grid standards to enable energy value-added services.

LG Electronics, LG U+, Modacom and Eluon will show an example of how two different IoT application areas, smart homes and smart cars, can be converged based on oneM2M platforms that are installed in the home domain and car domain, as well as in the cloud.

The hot topic of smart cities services will be presented by KETI, Convida Wireless, NEC Corporation, Fraunhofer and SK Telecom. They will show how using oneM2M-compliant service layer platforms will help deliver these services more efficiently across multiple technology domains. Huawei Technologies and China United Network Communications Group will show how personal lives can be enriched with the enablement of M2M device abstraction and semantics support.

A Continua-compliant healthcare solution running over a oneM2M service layer will be demonstrated by Lamprey Networks, InterDigital and Personal Connected Health Alliance. They will highlight how an end-to-end home healthcare solution that is consistent with the Continua architecture can be achieved in one system using oneM2M. Ericsson will showcase a connected vehicle cloud based on oneM2M architecture and protocols, focusing on the device management and data management common service entities.

TELIT/ILS Technology will demonstrate how business applications across multiple use cases and market segments can use the oneM2M platform. The demonstration will show how users are able to collect energy data points such as humidity and temperature using sensors from a building to predict consumption and allow better building maintenance.

The Showcase is a pivotal event to enable the industry to see oneM2M specifications in action. The demonstrations feature prime examples of how oneM2M’s work is advancing technology development and enhancing business operations. The event is the ideal platform for industry to gather and learn more about the value the new specifications deliver and how they will spur innovation in many sectors.

The oneM2M Showcase is free to attend and aimed at all industries developing M2M solutions, including industrial manufacturers and suppliers, consumer device manufacturers, component suppliers, and telecommunications service providers.

In addition, a series of informative oneM2M webinars covering both business issues and technical topics are scheduled during November 2014.
