Compass Intelligence has released a new report entitled, “In-vehicle Wireless Broadband – Connected Vehicle Survey of Consumers.”
This report explores the views, perspectives, opinions, wants/needs, trends, and feedback of drivers and passengers around the future of in-vehicle wireless broadband services. This survey provides participating vendors with direct answers to future impacting services that are expected to be monetized, provide revenue generation, and/or affect the future vehicle or automotive manufacturer, aftermarket, and a range of companies that have yet to be a part of the automotive industry.
This research was conducted online using Compass Intelligence’s own Thought Leaders Panel and opt-in email lists from a well-regarded Internet research panel vendor. For this particular survey, all respondents were over the age of 18, drove a vehicle and owned a smartphone. 1,748 consumers started the survey, with 1,440 qualifying for the survey and a total of 1,320 completes.
“Maintenance and predictive analytics on a vehicles’ health ranked the highest in end user requirements,” states Keith Robinson, Sr. strategist at Compass Intelligence. “This is an untapped opportunity for companies that participate in the in-vehicle wireless broadband market.”
There is low interest in having entertainment DVD systems and this segment is dwindling. The target segment for this market (kids under 10) is taking a hit because this age group is using tablets for entertainment purposes at an increasing rate. The other area of low interest is the traditional mobile services, such as text messages and email. Even social media feeds didn’t rank high. Overall products and services that can enhance the driving experience, entertainment and vehicle maintenance are the key wants from end-users.
