Home Control, the new range of smart home products from powerline manufacturer devolo, has received an “Excellent Protection” rating from renowned security specialist AV-TEST.
The system, which will be launched in the UK this autumn, provides a user-friendly DIY approach to smart home technology, with software that enables all components to be set up and controlled with ease.
Following comprehensive testing, AV-TEST praised Home Control for its high level of security and awarded the range an overall “Excellent Protection” rating. As noted in the final report, evaluation of devolo’s Home Control was the first instance in which test teams had seen “a TLS connection of smart home central units where certification validation was carried out both on the client side and the server side”.
The Home Control range has been developed with a strong focus on software security. Based on the Z-Wave global wireless standard, the devolo Home Control Central Unit only communicates with components that have been linked to the system using a pairing process. In addition, customers who wish to use the system on a local basis only can deactivate remote Internet access.
