Expert speakers at this year’s Broadband World Forum will tackle the issues surrounding how the Internet of Things (IoT) can be delivered and monetised. The conference programme will be complemented by live demonstrations of pioneering IoT technologies by a number of specialist providers who will be present on the exhibition floor.

On Wednesday October 21, Tim Whitley, MD, Research and Innovation at BT will explore what BT is doing to understand the future value chain and the products and services that will power the IoT as part of the Connected World track. Later that day Hugh Bradlow, chief scientist at Telstra will speak on Defining Telcos’ Role in the Future Age of Everything Connected. Senior representatives from Tele2 Group, Telefónica I+D and Telecom Srbija will also take part in a panel debate on the complexities and limitations of the IoT for telcos, including how they can offer value beyond just routing data. Friendly Technologies will lead an interactive debate on monetisation of the Internet of Things in the B2B and B2C markets.
Smart Home demonstrations
Friendly Technologies will demonstrate their Smart Home management solution, an open platform which offers the user a holistic view of all connected devices in the home including security sensors, cameras and power management.
D-Link present their mydlink Smart Home solutions which allow users to monitor and control their home from anywhere. Using the free application on smartphones or tablets, users can set power on/off schedules, turn devices on/off remotely, send an alert when motion is detected and remotely monitor energy usage.

Managing and delivering the IoT
Friendly Technology will also show its IoT M2M/MDM product line. The solution enables remote inventory management, firmware upgrade, remote setting configuration, QoE monitoring and alerts, support automation, service management and more.
Also present will be Greenwave Systems who will feature the AXON® platform. AXON provides the network management tools for on-boarding and controlling new IoT devices to create a managed service.
Freescale will present its QorIQ LS1043A quad-core processor. This enables the next generation of gigabit gateways with performance to support additional services such as home automation and application-based quality of service.
Inteno will be using Broadband World Forum to showcase the iopsys platform (Inteno Open Platform System). iopsys is a complete service and content delivery platform consisting of a Gateway Operating System, Home Portal and a multitude of software development kits, quickly enabling third party developers and service providers to innovate.
