Aeris appoints Dr. Rishi Bhatnagar as president of India Operations

Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies provider, Aeris announced its expansion into India and the appointment of Dr. Rishi Bhatnagar as the president of Operations for Aeris India. The appointment took effect in February 2016.

Aeris says that Dr. Bhatnagar will bring his extensive IoT and leadership experience to guide business growth as well as manage Aeris’ investments, governance and key stakeholder relationships within India’s growing IoT market. The market is expected to boost India’s GDP by up to US$1 trillion by 2025, according to recent data from McKinsey & Company.

He will also oversee the company’s operations in Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. On top of this potential growth for IoT in India, the Indian government has announced plans to create a $15 billion IoT market over the next five years, potentially making up almost six percent of the global IoT industry.

Before joining Aeris, Dr. Bhatnagar was the global head of Digital Enterprise Services at Tech Mahindra, where he spearheaded the IoT initiatives for the company and smart city projects. Dr. Bhatnagar is also the chairperson for The Institution of Engineering and Technology-Internet of Things (IET-IoT) India Panel. Along with a team from Bosch and Machina Research, Dr. Bhatnagar has co-authored the book ‘Enterprise-IoT’.

Aeris has also formed a senior leadership team to work with Dr. Bhatnagar, including Tushir Malik as vice president of sales and business development, Arvind Gopalakrishnan as vice president of Sales Engineering and Customer Success, and Asit Goel as vice president of Engineering and Operations.

Aeris is an operator of end-to-end IoT services and as a technology provider enabling other operators to build profitable IoT services. Among its customers are Hyundai, Acura, Rand McNally, Leica, and Sprint.
