Webthings Group’s products added to APC Smartwave IoT range

The APC Smartwave IoT range has been extended with the addition of wireless sensor nodes and data loggers from UK manufacturer Webthings Group. Under the agreement, the sensors will be available exclusively in the UK from APC Smartwave.

Powered using two AA batteries, these cost effective IoT solutions are ideally suited to long- term, environmental and condition monitoring applications.

They enable IoT system designers and integrators to create energy consumption dashboards, review trends, remotely monitor assets and send exception alerts to malfunctions in real time.

The sensor devices are based on LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) wireless protocols using SIGFOX or LoraWAN technology.

The devices are able to run off a single set of batteries for up to 10 years, opening the door for long term IoT-based applications in many new markets.

Sensor outputs can include:

  • ambient temperature
  • relative humidity
  • infra-red temperature
  • 1 digital input (receive state on/off)
  • meter pulse count
  • flood
  • reed switch
  • counter
  • on/off
  • 1 digital output (send control on/off)
  • switch
  • accelerometer – vibration mm/s
  • magnetometer – tilt degrees

The sensors are SIGFOX ready, providing options for reporting and control messaging, links to multi-tenanted cloud based software, visualisation of sensor data and multi-format performance alerts.

The addition of Webthings sensors brings the number of sensor options available from APC Smartwave to seven. Other product options from APC Smartwave include Libelium and Adeunis RF.100600

Commenting on the addition of Webthings to the APC Smartwave IoT stable, Martin Kingston, general manager, said: “APC Smartwave was launched last month to provide IoT developers with a comprehensive range of components and engineering support from a single source.

Our intention is to continually add new suppliers and components to the range, seeking out the best innovations and technologies in this dynamic market.

“Webthings is the first example of this approach. There will be plenty more to follow.”
