Globetouch wins GSMA award for ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Connected Lifestyle’

Globetouch, announced that its CloudSIM solution for the connected car was recently named the winner of the prestigious GSMA Asia Mobile Award for ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Connected Lifestyle’.

The awards were judged by an expert panel tasked with honouring the strongest products within the industry, and were presented at the Asia Mobile Awards ceremony at GSMA Mobile World Congress Shanghai.

By working with MNOs, MVNOs, and OEMs around the world, Globetouch’s pioneering CloudSIM technology removes the barriers to global connectivity for mobile operators, OEMs and automotive manufacturers, through creating a unique global collaborative ecosystem of network operators with local rates, and device manufacturers. This is supported by a cloud-based infrastructure and BSS/OSS, and channel partners made up of the enterprise and operator community.

Globetouch’s CloudSIM solution for the connected car innovatively solves supply-chain challenges, as it enables the automotive industry to build and ship cars anywhere in the world with a single data connectivity solution. Globetouch is able to provide a local identity for the car at the point of purchase, and bill the car manufacturer for the telemetry information, while also creating retail relationship between the car owner and the local operator for high speed data access in the car itself.

This technology creates valuable new revenue streams for mobile operators, as connected car manufacturers can incorporate mobile data costs into their charging models.

“We are delighted to receive such an important accolade,” said Paul Hodges, Globetouch managing director, Asia Pacific. “Our CloudSIM solution is a genuine break-through technology that is bringing real benefit to mobile operators, consumers and OEMs in over 150 countries worldwide, and we’re honoured that it has been recognised by the GSMA.”

“We extend our congratulations to all of the winners and nominees at our first Asia Mobile Awards here at Mobile World Congress Shanghai,” said Michael O’Hara, chief marketing officer, GSMA. “The AMOs recognise everything from game-changing mobile devices and technologies to applications and services available in all Asian markets, but perhaps more importantly, they underscore the hugely positive impact of mobile communications for people, business and society. Many thanks to all of our entrants, judges, sponsors and partners for supporting the 2016 Asia Mobile Awards.”

The Asia Mobile Awards – or AMO Awards – offer organisations across the region’s mobile eco-system (including vertical industries) the opportunity to showcase the latest and best mobile products, apps, devices, services, and initiatives to the industry and the world.
