UL has been named as a preferred supplier for Transport for London (TfL) and are delighted with the success of their first project together this year.
Transport for London, the leading Transit Operator in the United Kingdom, announced the development of a new terminal that is Oyster, ITSO and EMV contactless compliant earlier this year. UL, as a framework supplier in Smartcard/Smartmedia System for TfL, were approached by the industry leaders to assist in bringing this new reader to market.
Brought onboard for their expertise and knowledge in the field of transit and security, UL provided consultancy services to TfL, which included a Terminal Requirements Review of their new reader. The review required a high-quality specification of the multi-protocol terminal requirements. Having provided this type of review many times before, UL is highly regarded with its results.
UL completed the review after a thorough examination of the TfL requirements and an in-depth analysis and discussion of the findings took place. On top of that, UL will also continue to provide advice, guidance and research to assist TfL with planning, risk assessment, development and performance for current and future projects relating to Smartmedia Technology.
Amos Kater, director Advisory and Education Services EMEALA at UL, said: ‘‘UL is proud to work closely with this highly regarded customer and it is looking forward to continuing our collaboration with Transport for London. With over a decade of excellence in leading and supporting turn-key transit projects worldwide, UL sees that both parties will value from this engagement and are delighted to cooperate with TfL.’’
