devolo has added new functionality to its smart home technology range Home Control. The system’s latest update integrates additional software features, making more customer requests possible.
The latest Home Control developments make it possible to delay the execution of rules and scenarios. Home Control owners can, for example, simply press a wall switch and the house is set in alarm mode after a corresponding delay, such as twenty seconds. This allows enough time to shut the front door and avoid a false alarm.
Developments to programming functionality will also mean a greater range of scenarios can be implemented. The status of one rule (on or off) can now be applied as a condition of other rules, allowing users to create increasingly complex scenarios through the same simple set-up procedure.
Until now, it has been mandatory to give address details when setting up Home Control. The latest update has made this optional and gives customers a choice about whether they wish to enter an address or simply leave the corresponding fields blank.
Customers who choose to enter an address, however, have the advantage of allowing devolo Home Control to offer numerous functions based on the location of the installation, including local weather reports. With the latest software update this will also incorporate rules and scenarios that take into consideration the time of sunrise and sunset.
Notifications for users
Notifications now offer added convenience and security, as the new update makes it possible to store multiple e-mail addresses per user. Warning notices can arrive quickly in any situation and reach multiple recipients simultaneously. In addition, a system message is now also enabled that warns if a component can no longer be reached by the central unit, allowing users to solve the problem promptly.
devolo Home Control is available in stores and online. The Starter Pack, consisting of a Central Unit, Door/Window Contact and Smart Metering Plug, is available at a recommended retail price of £179.99 (US$ 226). Additional components—from the Wall Switch to the Radiator Thermostat—start at a recommended retail price of £34.99 (US$ 44). The devolo Home Control software, mydevolo, (app and online portal) is free to use.
