- As a child what job did you want to have when you grew up?
Honestly? From the age of four, I believed that my true vocation would be as a priest. However, that all went out of the window after my first kiss, aged 16. I saw stars and never looked back.
2. If you had one business lesson to share with your younger self what would it be?
Always do things the right way or your actions will come back to bite you. Act with integrity and honesty. If you don’t you’ll learn a harsh lesson.
Also, make sure you give 100% to everything you do and never give up at the first hurdle. I believe that it’s not who’s first to market that wins every time. The right mantra is that the real winners are the ones that slow down the least. A little like the tortoise and the hare tale from my youth.
3. Which Internet of Things (IoT) use case has recently fired your imagination?
The possibilities that the IoT opens up for affordable and social housing still astound me because of the potential impact they will have on whole communities. From cost and energy savings to providing a secure environment and better healthcare. These have the ability to change lives in a way that matters.
4. What lessons have you learned from doing business in other countries or organisations?
Never think you know it all and one size fits all. You have to respect the culture and know the environment.
