Smart meters with G3-PLC comms win project in Slovenia

The G3-PLC Alliance reports that its G3-PLC Alliance member Iskraemeco has acquired a major public procurement project which was led by the company SODO system operator of the electricity distribution network d.o.o. , on behalf of four regional utilities: Elektro Ljubljana, Elektro Maribor, Elektro Primorska and Elektro Celje. Iskraemeco will supply G3-PLC smart meters that will be installed in households and transformer stations.

Iskraemeco’s G3-PLC smart meters will play a role in the transformation of Slovenia’s electricity grid and its transition to the smart metering system. In the period 2020–2022, the company will supply the utilities with AM550 smart meters with G3-PLC communications and provide end consumers with a user-friendly and technologically advanced system that will help consumers optimise their electricity consumption.

“Meter installations in Slovenia is conducted in accordance with the Implementation Plan for Advanced Metering Systems and the predefined meter replacement schedule in line with the set goals, which we managed to exceed in the previous year.

Currently, digital meters are used by 70% of Slovenia’s households and other metering points, and all these consumers can benefit from the array of digital meter features, which include electricity consumption management, power bill reduction, as well as the possibility of self-supply, which has been increasing in Slovenia recently. Looking forward to a successful cooperation, we are certain that we will continue to achieve our meter installation goals also in the coming period,” said Andrej Spenga, project leader, SODO d.o.o.
