Web Mission 2013 is a trade mission to Bangalore and New Delhi supported by the Technology Strategy Board and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
The entrepreneur-led trade mission brings together 16 of the UK’s most promising digital, wireless and mobile software technology companies with the aim of developing new relationships and accelerate opportunities with potential customers and partners in India.
The week long trade mission, started on the 9th of February 2013, will allow participants to meet with potential customers and partners, develop their know-how of the business eco-system and what it takes to succeed, and connect with and be inspired by like-minded innovators and entrepreneurs.
The participants were assessed on their innovation, market opportunity and ability to do meaningful business in India. The final selection was balanced to form a mix of companies that showed the breadth of what the UK has to offer and to bring together a group of entrepreneurs that will successfully use their connections and insights to develop opportunities faster.
Cyan is well placed to be among the companies involved in this trade mission as it has its smart metering solution for utilities (CyLec®) deployed in multiple pilots throughout India.
The company is currently involved in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) Automatic Meter Reading tender, as well as in a smart grid project being led by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), in Puducherry.
Cyan is also involved in an AMI pilot project for a leading integrated power company in Mumbai. The pilot with a large public utility in the north of India is the most recent of Cyan’s smart metering involvements in the country.
John Cronin, executive chairman of Cyan, commented: “This mission will support Cyan’s strategy to build key relationships with the senior management of companies in the energy and utilities sector in India.”
