FiberHome selects Spirent Velocity to accelerate new product releases

Spirent Communications plc, a provider of Lab as a Service (LaaS) solutions, announced the successful deployment of its Velocity Lab as a Service platform by FiberHome, a global provider in optical communications equipment. In a typical week, FiberHome sets up hundreds of testbeds in its networking test labs.

Velocity has completely automated FiberHome’s testbed setup process, reducing setup time from over a week to a matter of minutes. With Velocity, FiberHome can verify and release new optical networking equipment significantly faster while simultaneously improving product quality.

“Velocity’s ability to set up testbeds quickly and efficiently has reduced our testbed setup time by over 90%, dramatically increasing our testing capacity,” said Mr. Hu Guohua, general manager of FiberHome’s Networking business unit Testing Department. “In addition, Velocity’s dashboards help us share equipment across teams more efficiently, reducing equipment costs substantially. Beyond these key benefits, we selected Velocity due to Spirent’s commitment to understanding our test automation goals and ability to achieve them.”

FiberHome’s legacy testbed setup process had unique complexities, with multiple devices under test and a variety of test instruments and configurations. This caused the testbed setup process to take longer than the time required to run the actual tests. FiberHome concluded the only solution was to automate their lab operations. Spirent Velocity was selected due to its demonstrated ability to completely automate testbed setup, enabled by tight integration with FiberHome’s existing test platforms and equipment.

“Our test automation experts in China worked closely with FiberHome’s product verification teams to ensure their test automation needs were met with our Velocity platform,” said Patrick Johnson, general manager of Spirent’s Automation Platform Technology business unit. “We look forward to FiberHome’s even greater success now that their test lab efficiency has dramatically increased.”
