Crate.io, developer and supplier of CrateDB IoT-optimised database technology, released CrateDB 4.0. With updates that address several components of the highly scalable open source database, 4.0 is said to make it easier, faster, and more cost-effective for IoT- and IIoT-fueled organisations to put their machine and sensor data to work.

The Industrial Internet of Thing (IIoT) promises to allow organisations to deploy ever-increasing volumes of machine and sensor data to optimise myriad production processes, enhance security, and improve the worker experience (whether that employee is on the factory floor or in the office).

Momenta Partners reports it has invested an undisclosed sum in Crate.io. Crate core product, CrateDB is a SQL database for managing machine data and analysing it in real time.
