Motional and Lyft announced the launch of Motional’s new all-electric IONIQ 5-based robotaxi, an autonomous vehicle (AV) designed for fully driverless ride-hail operation, on the Lyft network in Las Vegas.

A fleet of 30 autonomous vehicles has been launched in Las Vegas on the Lyft network, by Aptiv Plc, a global mobility technology provider. A product of Aptiv’s Mobility and Services group, these vehicles will operate on Aptiv’s fully-integrated autonomous driving platform and be made available to the public in partnership with Lyft.

Autonomous vehicles are fast moving from a distant aspiration of the future to a reality of the present day, with more and more companies investing in the development of the self-driving cars.
