Over the weekend, a code was reportedly employed on a large number of Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices to form a botnet. The botnet was then deployed to attack websites with a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.

What is normal? It’s important to remember there is no silver bullet in security, and there is no evidence at all that tools such as ML and AI can solve the problem. ML is good at finding similarities between things (such as spam emails), but it is not so good at locating anomalies.

Critical national infrastructure firms have been advised by security experts Symantec to check their networks after the discovery of a new attack, codenamed Dragonfly. Also known as Energetic Bear, Dragonfly is said to be capable of doing damage to utilities on the same scale as Stuxnet.
