The Global M2M Association (GMA), a co-operation in the machine-to-machine (M2M) sector established by Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telecom Italia and TeliaSonera, has announced the participation in the GMA of SoftBank Mobile and Bell Mobility.

June 22, 2013 — The Global M2M Association (GMA), a co-operation agreement in the machine-to-machine (M2M) sector between TeliaSonera, Orange and Deutsche Telekom, has now welcomed Telecom Italia to the fold, Georgina Elrington reports.

Gothenburg, Sweden — Although Ericsson has yet to announce it formally, Megafon, the Russian mobile operator, and Swedish incumbent telco, TeliaSonera are both reported to have signed agreements with the network equipment manufacturer to provide cloud-based M2M services for enterprises. In a separate report, 3UK is said to have signed for similar support.

Acal BFi, a division of Acal plc (FTSE: ACL), has been selected to join the TeliaSonera Global M2M Services Partnership Programme. Under the programme, Acal BFi will provide hardware and product solutions for applications in the fast growing wireless M2M market place throughout Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

By 2016, global cellular M2M connections will balloon to 313 million, says a Yankee Group analyst, as more enterprises and consumers realise business benefits and improved experiences from connected devices.

TeliaSonera has signed the cooperation agreement with France Telecom-Orange and Deutsche Telekom to increase the quality of service and interoperability for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.
