The Satellite Handbook

Although cellular network coverage is now near ubiquitous in terms of the planet’s population, 85% of the Earth’s surface is still not covered by the technology, significantly hampering IoT use cases. What’s needed is the means to ensure connectivity globally regardless of locations and that means on the oceans, up the mountains and across the deserts. There are a vast range of IoT use cases from mining to agriculture to shipping and logistics to telematics to asset tracking and monitoring that rely on non-cellular connections where coverage is unavailable. Satellite connectivity is the go-to technology, but adoption has been hampered by the cost barriers associated with the technology. The good news is that this is changing in two significant ways. One is the launch of more and more satellites to provide even greater capacity and coverage. The other is the emergence of systems to efficiently manage satellite utilisation and aggregate IoT messages and data transmissions. IoT devices don’t need to take out individual satellite subscriptions, they only need to communicate when the use case demands so there’s an opportunity to provide platforms for the efficient management of satellite coverage and connections for IoT devices.
This Handbook will detail the new satellite landscape, taking into account the innovative satellite systems being deployed in LEO constellations and non-terrestrial networks. We’ll look at how these technologies are being applied to IoT use cases and assess how satellite is becoming a mainstream part of the connectivity mix for IoT applications. The Handbook will assess platforms and solutions for managing satellite IoT connectivity and introduce your Satellite IoT offering. The Handbook will look ahead to the future to understand how satellite-related innovations are transforming IoT connectivity and performance across the entire planet’s surface, not just the populated areas.

AI at Scale

AI has fantastic potential to transform industries, automating tedious tasks and enabling new approaches to processes. Some use cases are for the future but, by learning how to use tools such as Copilots for GenAI, companies of all types can gain greater understanding of AI’s potential and prepare effectively for new use cases. Amid all the excitement there are still operational issues to address from enforcing AI policies to setting limits and controls on how the technology is utilised. Don’t forget, AI isn’t free so use cases must be balanced against the cost of applying AI to them. This report will look ahead to identify the full potential of AI and also explore how to get there by building the skills, infrastructure, systems and tools needed to make applying AI safe, robust and secure.

Quarter 2 Closing May 2025

Focus Topics

Monetisation
How will CSPs monetise their core capabilities and generate revenues with new partners across the value chain?

Simplified Connectivity
Do recent innovations mean that IoT connectivity is now frictionless, easy to access and flexible?

Special Reports

Scalability and Sustainability

Telco AI – Automation has been a long-cherished dream to bring down the cost of CSP operations and enable improved profitability. With a complex web of new services emerging, some of which will require automated spinning up and throttling of network capacity, could AI be mechanism by which CSPs achieve flexible, automated control of their infrastructure?

Cybersecurity

Organisations face new cybersecurity challenges in two directions. The first is their customers expect them to reinforce digital trust, protect their data and assure their IT security. This is a burden but also an opportunity to potentially monetise security. The second is that they themselves face new challenges as their businesses become more complex. The opening of APIs, the utilisation of shared infrastructure and reliance on cloud and edge computing mean multiple assets with different owners across different IT domains need to be assured. Risk lies in the gaps between each and the constantly shifting attack formats of bad actors. This report will assess how companies are protecting themselves by preparing their security postures for a new threat landscape.

Quarter 3 Closing August 2025

Focus Topics

Digital Transformation
Can CSPs keep up with the pace of transformation in adjacent sectors to maximise their digital potential?

Massive IoT
The waiting is over so how is IoT handling the reality of hyperscale deployments?

Special Reports

THE iSIM Innovation Playbook

SIM innovation – eSIM, iSIM, vSIM, nuSIM and still old, plastic SIM are IoT developers’ cellular device identification options, but what are the differences, why do they matter and how are IoT deployments benefiting?

Quarter 4 Closing November 2025

Focus Topics

AI and the New Customer Experience
How will tools such as GenAI deliver benefits today and free up resources for complex new opportunities?

Security Pressures
Is the proliferation of bad actors and the radically expanded IoT threat surface hindering growth?

Special Reports

AI Edge Handbook

Intelligent edge – Intelligence now resides in the cloud, at the edge and, increasingly, on the device itself so how can IoT organisations decide how to balance the pros and cons of each location and thereby optimise their operations?

Cloud Native Migration and Management

5G monetisation – VanillaPlus has always been about more than vanilla flavour telecoms services but now the industry has new models, new charging mechanisms and new customers that want to be sold differentiated QoS, access to specific network slices and platforms that enable them to sell to their customers. What do these models, the charging and settlement processes and the potential profits looks like?

WEKNOW HOW TO CREATE BRAND FANS BUT WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT US?

IoT Now’s ABM program has been even more successful than we expected. The leads were spot on and there were plenty of them to work with. That, combined with their professionalism and easy-to-work-with attitude has made our collaborations with IoT Now a great success.

Judi Lembke, IoT Brand Manager, Tele2

We tried the content syndication ABM program with 4 campaigns. We got all leads that were guaranteed from our target account list. Beyond that, working with the team has been a great experience, high quality and are always very responsive and eager to help.

Pamela Trevino, EMEAI Marketing Manager, Gurobi Optimization

I have worked with IoT Now on many successful campaigns for over a decade. What keeps putting them at the top of my marketing list every year is the relationship we have with the team who go above and beyond to make our investment a success, the guaranteed lead gen and the delivery of on target names from our asset campaigns. Its also the responsiveness we achieve from the industry and the insight IoT Now has into the vertical markets
