Customisable, plug-and-play Spectre LTE Cellular Router ready for M2M on AT&T’s 4G network

Router

B&B Electronics has expanded its family of rugged wireless Spectre routers to include the new Spectre LTE Cellular Router. Taking advantage of the fast data transfer speeds (up to 100Mbit/s for download, 50 Mbit/s for upload) of the LTE cellular network, the router is built for industrial remote M2M monitoring applications that demand speed, low latency, security and the ability to handle large data loads.

Designed for plug-and-play simplicity with extensive remote management, deployment and customisation options, the robust Spectre LTE wirelessly connects Ethernet equipment and other devices to the Internet or Intranet via cellular telephone networks.  B&B Electronics, a developer of mission-critical network connectivity solutions, reports it is now certified and ready for use on AT&T’s 4G/LTE US network.

The Spectre LTE is a single-box solution that can serve as an Ethernet and/or serial backbone. A modular design allows for multiple configuration options. The router’s standard configuration includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, USB host port, binary input/output (I/O) port and dual SIM card holders for network redundancy.

It also has two auxiliary ports for connecting to other types of networks, including additional Ethernet switch ports, serial RS-232/422/485 interfaces and additional Digital/Analog I/O.  An additional option is integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi technology, enabling Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) or “Hotspot” functionality.

As a customisation option, the router can be programmed to aggregate data from monitored assets that use various standardised protocols, such as Modbus TCP and Modbus Serial RTU to name a few, organise and process that data specifically for a customer’s unique application, and then transmit the data that is relevant up to a cloud-based data analytics platform. This allows the analytics company to analyse meaningful data, providing actionable intelligence to help the customer cut costs or increase revenue.

B&B is collaborating with multiple cloud platform and analytics companies for customers who desire this level of intelligence.
