Telekom Austria Group M2M and Rosenbauer partner to provide firefighting vehicle solutions

Austrian-based company Rosenbauer, the manufacturer of firefighting equipment, has announces it has chosen Telekom Austria Group M2M’s innovative telematics solutions for the administration of its firefighting vehicles. As of now, security-critical vehicles will be connected with the central server application via a mobile data connection (GPRS/UMTS). This solution is particularly well suited for global-scale deployment, as it offers tailor-made tariff schemes for the worldwide export market. In addition, alternative network coverage is guaranteed via access to multiple local mobile networks.

“We are delighted that the most innovative Austrian enterprises, such as Rosenbauer, are choosing Telekom Austria Group M2M’s dependable telematics solutions. Based on our extensive network of over 350 roaming partners, we are in a position to offer global connectivity solutions. This facilitates operations, while saving costs and efforts for the integration of local providers. In addition, thanks to our state-of-the-art ‘SIMplify’ platform, customers have full control and enjoy considerable cost transparency,” said Richard Palmetzhofer, managing director Telekom Austria Group M2M.

Via the M2M SIMplify platform, connection to the mobile data network and potential misuse (usage of SIM cards in other hardware, excessive data usage) are automated and monitored in real-time. The usage of a uniform SIM card connection minimises any potential security risks. SIM cards are connected with the head office exclusively via a private network and, since configuration is location-independent and thus always the same, no unsecured local SIM cards are necessary. This contributes to enhancing system availability and facilitates easy system maintenance.

“The main challenge was to meet the wide-ranging requirements of the different customer segments and geographic regions in terms of network coverage and data volumes via one single clearly-structured and easily calculable solution. This solution allows for the further expansion of the data model moving forward with Telekom Austria Group M2M’s strong roaming partners fulfilling all of our main requirements,” explained Thomas Hartinger, head of Telematics at Rosenbauer.
