Build smaller, better wearables with advanced transmitter/receiver pair, says Radiometrix

Radiometrix' radio transmitter is ideal for space-constrained
applications such as wearable social alarms

The latest MTX3 radio transmitter from Radiometrix reportedly combines small size with narrow band operation, for space-constrained applications.

These could include use as wearable social alarms that support independent living for medical patients or the elderly.

With, typically, 500-metres line of sight usable range and 10mW transmit power, the 4-channel MTX3 transmitter can be powered from a small and lightweight battery. Compact 23mm x 12.5mm x 7mm dimensions allow the design of small and unobtrusive alarms that can be easily worn on a patient’s wrist or as a pendant. Conformance with EN 300 220-2 and EN 301 489-3 regulations for Short Range Devices (SRD) allows interference reduced operation in the license-exempt 868MHz frequency band.

Designers can combine the MTX3 with the Radiometrix COR3 receiver: the ideal partner device to this transmitter. Conforming to the high reliability EN 300 220-2 Category 1 radio specification for life critical applications like social alarms, this receiver’s high sensitivity maximises usable range, while low operating current minimises power demand and simplifies design. COR3 covers both social alarm channels, and can support up to 32 re-programmable channels via its built-in digital interface.

Both devices are fully screened and both are delivered in industry-standard packages with standard pin-outs that simplify board design. In addition to social alarms, they can be used in many other types of handheld terminals, such as high-end security or fire alarm systems, smart-building devices, environmental monitoring equipment, and general telemetry and data-logging applications.
