Vayyar advances smart home solutions and applications with its powerful 3D imaging sensor technology

Vayyar Imaging, the 3D-imaging sensor company whose technology makes it possible to see through objects, liquids, and materials, has announced the availability of its award-winning 3D sensor technology for the Smart Home market.

Vayyar’s powerful 3D sensors see through known barriers to precisely detect, identify and track multiple individuals’ motion, falls and vital signs and deliver unparalleled 3D imaging optimized for the home environment. Vayyar’s 3D sensors also ensure greater privacy through camera-free monitoring, making them ideal for home healthcare, security, sophisticated home automation and entertainment delivery.

Vayyar’s Smart Home sensor was recently awarded Best New Technology by an audience of more than 350 cable company executives during the Innovation Showcase at the CableLabs® conference.

Advancing smart home applications

Vayyar’s 3D sensors are compact, cost-effective and powerful. They require minimal installation and cover large areas, which reduces the need for multiple sensors throughout a home and minimizes the cost of installation for the end customer. The patented 3D sensor technology uses radio frequency (RF) to deliver unprecedented Smart Home capabilities, including:

  • Healthcare monitoring of the elderly, family or children – Monitors breathing and vital signs of multiple individuals in a home, and alerts a care provider if a fall occurs or breathing stops. Unlike other 3D imaging technologies on the market, Vayyar’s 3D imaging sensors do not require the use of a camera, ensuring privacy for the monitored individuals.
  • Advanced security and safety features in case of fire or intruder alert – Tracks the real-time movement of individuals inside a home – even through the walls; quickly pinpoints and locates people in a structural fire or shouldhome security be breached.
  • Cable content and entertainment delivery – Enables cable companies to offer highly personalized and targeted content and entertainment delivery based on an individual’s height, preference, and location in their home.

  • Decrease bandwidth drain – Identify if someone is asleep in a room with the TV on, and instantly reduce the broadcast to SD (standard definition) versus HD (high definition) or Ultra HD 4K to save network bandwidth.

There are vast implications for Vayyar’s 3D sensors in the Smart Home sector. According to research firm Statista, “SmartHome household penetration in the U.S. is at 5.82% in 2016, and is expected to hit 18.62% in 2020.” Further, “Revenue in the ‘Smart Home’ market accounts for USD $9.7 billion in 2016, and is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2016-2020) resulting in a market volume of USD $20.8 billion in 2020.”
