The 2ndSmart Mobility Congress (SMC) runs from November 13-15, 2018. The conference and conference focuses on urban and intercity intelligent transport, and will address the challenges that greater urban concentration raises in terms of mobility, including aspects such as public transport networks, sustainable mobility, autonomous vehicles, new disruptive transport models, payment systems, logistics and railways.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona, SMC coincides with Smart City Expo World Congress, an exhibition on cities and urban solutions.
The exhibition area will show the latest solutions and projects of the main companies in the sector. Among the companies that will participate in the event are Acciona, Alstom, Axis Citilog, Bosch, Cisco, Dassault Systemes, Deloitte, Deutsche Telekom, Easymile, Engie, ESRI, FCC, Ferrovial, Hexagon, Huawei, Isbak Mastercard, Microsoft, Mobileye, SAP , Moovel, Rambus, Ridecell, Seat, Tomtom, Torrot, Ubiwhere, Urbaser, and World Sensing.
For the president of Smart Mobility Congress, Pere Calvet, it is “an unbeatable opportunity for all the actors involved in the field of mobility to meet in one place, discuss future challenges, share experiences and undertake new projects in a field that will be key for the development of our society in the short term “.
In this sense, SMC will benefit from the synergies created with Smart City Expo World Congress, the largest event in the sector, with more than 20,000 visitors planned and a broad representation of cities and governments, with more than 50 exhibiting cities, 700 participating cities and the presence of official delegations headed by mayors and ministers from different parts of the world.
The congress section of SMC will have 120 speakers and 50 sessions. Among the most prominent speakers are Janil Puthucheary, senior minister of State of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information of Singapore; Sharon Dijksma, deputy mayor for Transport, Water and Air Quality of the city of Amsterdam (The Netherlands); Mar Alarcón, founder and CEO of SocialCar; Khaled Bin Abdullah Al Hogail, CEO and executive director of the Saudi Public Transport Company; Howard Permut, former president of the Metro North Railway in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York (USA), Nicolás Grandón, responsible for the Smart City Unit in the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile; and Adriana Krnacova, mayor of Prague (Czech Republic).
Partnership with UITP
The SMC will collaborate with the UITP (International Union of Public Transport) and will hold a special edition of the UMii Forum (Urban Mobility Innovation Index), a platform that studies mobility in some of the main cities of the five continents and offers a guide to help to the municipal governments to develop policies and solutions to achieve innovation in the field of urban mobility. During the celebration of the event the latest data of the index will be presented and the cities that best solve the transport challenges will be announced.
