Eurotech launches BoltGATE 10-12, a rugged multi-service IoT gateway

Eurotech, a long-time provider of embedded computing systems and provider in Internet of Things (IoT) enablement, makes available its newest Multi-Service IoT Gateway for heavy duty applications.

The BoltGATE 10-12 is a rugged Edge device that greatly simplifies connecting the Field with the Cloud.

The BoltGATE 10-12 is a low power gateway, certified for Rolling Stock (EN50155, Smoke & Fire) and Automotive (E-Mark); it is ideal for heavy duty applications in general, thanks to a solid metal enclosure with IP67 protection from dust and liquids, OT4 operating temperature range (-40 to +70°C), and rugged connectors.

Unstable power is not a problem for the BoltGATE 10-12: it features an internal battery that protects the device from power interruptions (up to EN50155 Class S3) and allows for a safe shutdown, while supporting a 9 to 36VDC power input with transient protection and vehicle ignition sense.

“The BoltGATE 10-12 dramatically simplifies bridging both greenfield and brownfield applications with the Cloud,” says Pierfrancesco Zuccato, senior product manager at Eurotech, “On the one side, it is a very rugged and connected device; on the other, it comes with a rich IoT Framework that works seamlessly with most Cloud platforms”.

The BoltGATE 10-12 provides a wide range of connectivity capabilities: it integrates an internal LTE Cat 1 cellular modem with dual Micro-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Fast Ethernet ports, and an internal GNSS with Untethered Dead Reckoning. Field interfaces include protected serial ports, CAN bus and isolated digital I/O.

Protection of system integrity and authenticity against unauthorised manipulations is enabled from the hardware level up, thanks to support for TPM 2.0. Expansion options include pluggable modules, like a LoRa Gateway, and a DAQ unit that provides analog input and additional DI/O ports.

The BoltGATE 10-12 comes with Everyware Software Framework (ESF), Eurotech’s IoT Edge Framework, that supports ready-to-use field protocols (including Modbus, OPC-UA, S7), MQTT connectivity, a web-based visual data flow programming (ESF Wires) and deep configuration. ESF is a commercial, enterprise-ready edition of Eclipse Kura. ESF is also integrated with Everyware Cloud (EC), Eurotech’s IoT Edge Management Platform (separately available), enabling advanced diagnostics, provisioning, and full remote device access and management.

Used stand-alone, or in conjunction with Everyware Cloud, the BoltGATE 10-12 provides a fast go-to-market solution for IoT projects of any size.
