Quectel Wireless Solutions, announces expansion of its research and development centre in Penang, Malaysia. The centre has moved to larger premises in city and has added functionality including a testing lab and anechoic chamber, alongside manufacturing facilities in centre. The expansion will enable Quectel to provide customise and off-the-shelf products and services to its APAC (Asia-Pacific) and global customers in future.
Designed with a focus on providing training, support, and customer services, Quectel R&D centre currently includes shielding rooms, an anechoic chamber and an array of RF (radio frequency) testing capabilities. These resources enhance creation and customer support, underscoring Quectel’s commitment to provide customised and value added services, further elevating its capabilities to serve its growing IoT (internet of things) customer base. “We are thrilled to grow our operations in Penang. The expansion will allow for accelerated innovation and development based on customer requirements and provide regional support and production.” says James Cai, general manager of Quectel’s R&D facility in Penang.

The R&D centre is well equipped with an advanced testing laboratory and an anechoic chamber, covering hardware and firmware design, testing skills, and more, rendering it an optimal setting for exhaustive testing, debugging, and customer device evaluations.
Underlining Quectel’s goal of creating multiple international teams worldwide to support customers in all regions, the opening of R&D centre in Malaysia will enable company to provide support to customers in region, while at same time supporting global Quectel product roadmap. The Penang R&D centre is situated in Bayan Lepas area of Penang, positioned to bring together some of world’s renowned engineers and IoT personnels in region to accelerate creation and drive future of in APAC region and beyond.
Founded in 2010, Quectel has maintained development and has become a global IoT provider of solutions. This will cover cellular modules, Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) modules, smart modules, automotive modules, GNSS (global navigation satellite system) modules, antennas as well as certification services.
