Report: Why Bluetooth and LTE M/NB-IoT are enabling wireless synergy for IoT

header

With volumes of connected IoT devices accelerating into the tens of billions, selecting wireless connectivity has become an increasingly complex challenge, involving sophisticated calculations to balance the needs of specific devices and use cases with coverage, throughput, cost and security demands.

The moving devices of IoT need to leave enterprise campuses and transition freely across the globe and certain cellular technologies present a better fit with the large majority of IoT devices today and this is what the recent IoT Now Webinar: Bluetooth and LTE-M/MB-IoT – Wireless Synergy for IoT, explored.

In this round-up report, IoT Now’s managing editor, George Malim reviews the discussion with experts from Sony Semiconductor IL, Sierra Wireless and Laird Connectivity on how the building blocks of silicon, module and modem have been assembled to enable Laird Connectivity’s Pinnacle 100 and Sentrius MG100 products.

These products illustrate how small-to-medium sized IoT businesses are looking to purchase sophisticated hardware that is composed of pre-integrated silicon, module and modems that can be easily added to their IoT devices helping to speed up time-to-market.
