Advantech augments din-rail edge computer line-up with enhanced performance and ultra-compact design

Germany. 3 October 2022 – Advantech, a provider of AIoT platforms and services, is pleased to announce the release of two din-rail edge computers ARK-1221L and ARK-1250L. These computers feature ultra-compact, rugged, and fanless designs that support wide operating temperature ranges (-40 ~ 60 °C) and voltage input. Both ARK-1221L and ARK-1250L support Windows 10 and Ubuntu for easy deployment and integration.

In addition, by adding TPM chips on request, they enable high-level hardware-based security. This series is designed with front-facing I/O that support integration in cabinets and space-limited environments common in machine vision, equipment control, and smart factory applications.

Industrial automation gateway: ARK-1221L

ARK-1221L features the Intel Atom x6413E Quad Core CPU (Elkhart Lake) and supports up to 32 GB DDR4-2666 memory for computing-intensive IoT operations. ARK-1221L leverages WISE-DeviceOn to provide an IoT gateway for remotely managing edge devices, reducing downtime and maintenance costs, and increasing processing efficiency and productivity. Despite its compact size, ARK-1221L provides rich I/O for connection with sensing devices these include 2 x GbE (up to 2500 Mbps), 2 x RS-232/422/485, 2 x USB 3.2, 2 x USB 2.0, and HDMI + DP. ARK-1221L features multiple internal expansion slots, including mPCIe, and M.2 E key & B key for diverse automation applications and storage respectively.

AI accelerated automation system: ARK-1250L

Powered by 11th Gen Intel Core i5/i3 processors (Tiger Lake), ARK-1250L delivers responsive, high-performance computing power with AI/deep learning capabilities and low power consumption. ARK-1250L supports versatile I/O connection and over 10 selected iDoor I/O expansion modules. These modules engender high flexibility for a diverse range of AOI, AGV/AMR, and industrial equipment control applications. Likewise, ARK-1250L features 4 x RS-232/422/485 for motor and radar sensors, 1 x optional CANbus for robotic arms, 3 x USB 3.2 for peripherals like vision cameras, and 3 x GbE (2 x are up to 2500 Mpbs) for connectivity.

Its internal expansion slots, including mPCIe/mSATA, M.2 E key (for Wi-Fi) and B key (for 5G), internal USB pin header (for security dongles), help users enhance solution functionality. Built with Advantech DeviceOn/iEdge, ARK-1250L supports standard industrial protocols including Modbus, OPC-UA, and other PLC base protocols via a user-friendly interface for machine status monitoring, real-time reaction, and abnormal function notification capabilities.

Advantech’s ARK-1221L and ARK-1250 din-rail automation systems are available now.
