European Utility Week, Amsterdam, Netherlands & Paderborn, Germany – To engage with customers and enhance the smart home with dynamic pricing, Orga Systems’ real-time pricing and event-driven dynamic energy billing has been selected as part of Vattenfall’s Smart Energy Hafen City Project in Hamburg.

Vattenfall, one of Europe’s leading energy supplier, is aiming to cut energy consumption and CO2 emissions in electrical power and for heating in a pilot project in Hamburg City, Germany. During the project residents will benefit from advanced home automation services based on OS.Energy, the intelligent energy pricing and billing system developed and hosted by Orga Systems.

Transparency and flexible pricing are key

The advanced smart metering and communication infrastructure enables customers to manage and be aware of their tariff, consumption or special offerings at all times. Orga Systems’centralised and event-driven pricing system includes a multi-level tariff profile that considers time of use, weekday and weekend usage as well as special prices for bank holidays, birthdays, etc. This enables Vattenfall to update and instantly visualise the customer pricing based on wholesale energy pricing levels.

On the one hand, this actively involves the user, and on the other hand, encourages him or her to be energy-conscious, which is key to unlocking additional savings potential and to achieving CO2 reductions.

What’s in it for the customers?

Even though innovative home automation systems assist users in an increasingly connected world, enhancing their daily convenience while keeping costs low for required energy, they are only optimising on a home level. Incorporating smart metering and adaptive centralised energy pricing allows a further efficiency increase by linking energy generation and end customer usage in one environment.

While energy providers can optimise their procurement and generation side, customers adapting their usage will benefit from reductions and refunds on their energy costs.

For more than 20 years, Orga Systems’ portfolio of real-time products and consulting services has been designed for living in a connected world. Scalable architecture, outstanding performance, lowest rating latency and consequent customer-centricity ensure reliable access to any kind of cross-vertical next generation services for over 400 million subscribers in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Worldwide, more than 40 telecommunication service providers, energy suppliers, car manufacturers, automotive and logistics companies rely on Orga Systems, and are said to achieve reduced operational expenditure, real time-to-market, short-term returns on investment, as well as beneficial access to new value chains and profitable machine to-machine (M2M) revenue streams.
