Swedish start up Fidesmo secures seed financing

Stockholm, Sweden – Swedish start up Fidesmo has announced that it has secured seed financing from Jan Bosch and Niclas Lilja. The proceeds will be used to accelerate Fidesmo’s technology development to create and operate a platform for remote management of secure applications in smart phones and connected devices.

Their vision is to enable consumers to use their smart phones as a replacement for physical keys and ticketing cards (with NFC technology), and to create a cost-effective process for enterprises to manage connected devices in machine-to-machine.

Fidesmo’s technology brings secure applications to smart phones and connected devices regardless of operator, handset manufacturer or operating system. It simplifies access and identification in areas such as public transportation (subway or bus tickets, boarding passes), access control (hotel keys, employee badges), retail (loyalty cards, coupons), payments (credit or debit cards), automotive (car keys, car rental applications) and M2M applications.

”Fidesmo has in a short time reached several strategic milestones and kick started cooperation with global companies in telecom and payments. I am happy to join this highly skilled and visionary team,” said Jan Bosch, newly appointed Chairman of the Board at Fidesmo.

“Fidesmo brings the benefits of cloud services to companies deploying secure applications, both in the consumer and enterprise markets. We welcome our new investors and we will now propel the development of our platform for managing secure applications in smart phones and other connected devices,” says Mattias Eld, co-founder and CEO of Fidesmo.

Jan Bosch is professor of software engineering at Chalmers in Gothenburg and professor of software engineering at the University of Groningen. His industry background includes positions at Intuit, Mountain View, California, and Nokia Research Centre in Helsinki, Finland. Jan holds an MSc degree from the University of Twente, in The Netherlands and a PhD degree from Lund University, Sweden.

Niclas Lilja is the founder of Forest Avenue AB, a company specialising in seed and early stage investments in technology start-ups. Niclas’ background includes positions as Communications Director of 3 in Scandinavia, Vice President OMX Group and Visiting Scholar Stanford University. He holds an MSc degree from Stockholm School of Economics.

Fidesmo

Fidesmo was founded by Mattias Eld, Miguel Cardo and Petter Arvidsson in 2013 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Jan and Niclas will join the board of directors. Fidesmo has previously been granted an innovation loan from Almi.
