Gen-i partners with Jasper Wireless to bring extra M2M capabilities to New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand – Gen-i has announced that it will become the first New Zealand provider to offer the industry-leading Jasper Wireless global enterprise connected devices platform for powering the mobile Internet of Things.

The Jasper Wireless platform enables M2M connections across global locations and telecommunications networks, and connects a large developer community, removing boundaries for Kiwi businesses and developers looking to play on the world stage.

Gen-i will use the Jasper Wireless platform to support clients looking to create business value by connecting devices, or grow a locally developed IoT solution into global markets. Gen-i will also leverage the platform to bring new generation M2M solutions to market here in New Zealand.

Gen-i Head of Mobility Dave Shennan says the Jasper Wireless platform will enable the company to support clients across a range of verticals in leveraging telemetry and big data for business advantage.

“The Jasper Wireless platform will help our clients unleash the power of big data by enabling them to simultaneously monitor and manage multiple devices in any location to provide real-time information that they can use to create a competitive edge,” says Shennan. “Jasper is already the platform of choice for the most enterprises worldwide, so will also help Kiwi businesses draw upon the experiences of others globally. Partnering with Jasper is an important step for Gen-i as we look to support the expansive growth across various vertical industries with a more robust service. We’re excited about the future opportunities this platform will provide for our clients.”

This year, Jasper Wireless platform was judged by the Global Mobile Awards to be the Best Cloud Based Technology for Mobile. Jasper Wireless is widely recognised as the first choice for enterprises, with over 2500 deployed across 15 mobile operator groups, representing over 100 operators across Australasia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, including Telstra in Australia and AT&T in the USA.

The platform supports highly flexible business models as well as the automation of operational processes, including custom device provisioning, instant activation, real-time diagnostic tools and detailed billing and usage reports. This means Gen-i can deliver a superior out-of-the-box experience to its clients, enabling them to manage their service through an intuitive, simple and secure web page or by means of a fully featured API framework.

“Jasper Wireless is delighted to be working with Gen-i to quickly and profitably introduce, connect and manage connected mobile devices. Mobile operators in the past have seen a five-fold profit increase using cloud-based M2M services management platforms and we expect growth potential to be even greater in the near-future as cellular M2M connections surge to 2.1 billion by 2020,” said Jasper Wireless Global Vice President, Ken Laversin. “Jasper Wireless looks forward to helping Gen-i fully capitalise on the opportunities M2M will bring to the mobile operator market.”

Gen-i’s agreement with Jasper Wireless builds on the company’s other recently secured partnerships with SAP, Emulex, Compuware, Flexera and Samsung, all designed to bring innovative new services developed by proven global technology providers into the New Zealand market.
