G&D wins Sesames Award 2013 in the software category with its TEE-TSM solution

Munich, Germany – Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) was one of the winners of this year’s Sesames Awards, presented at last week’s CARTES Secure Connexions Event 2013 in Paris. G&D was honoured for its contribution to secure smart connected devices such as smartphones and tablets with comprehensive Over-the-Air (OTA) services. G&D’s Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) provide a robust, end-to-end security ecosystem to protect sensitive applications and data on mobile devices against malware and cyber criminals. The prize was awarded in the software category.

“We are delighted to receive this coveted award,” commented Florian Reithmeier (pictured above), Group Senior Vice President, Mobile Security at Giesecke & Devrient, with pride. “The award is an acknowledgement of our achievement and, at the same time, a strong motivation for us to make mobile life even more secure and to simplify consumers’ everyday lives with G&D’s trusted security solutions.”

Security-sensitive apps, such as mobile banking apps, must be updated with the latest security features or new encryption algorithms. G&D’s TEE-TSM platform supports provisioning and updating of TEE-protected apps in a secure and easy manner, without hassle or inconvenience for the device user.

The TEE operating system is developed and distributed to mobile device manufacturers by Trustonic. On-demand app deployment via TEE-TSM can be initiated anytime, anywhere, without compromising the mobile device or application security and while maintaining productivity. Further lifecycle management activities such as software updates will also be handled by the Over-the-Air (OTA) capabilities of the TEE-TSM platform.

G&D offers secure services and applications for companies, banks, and financial service providers, as well as for mobile network operators. The TSM for TEE is offered primarily as a managed service and comprises the whole lifecycle of secured apps.
