Deutsche Telekom and Intel sign MoU to offer M2M toolkit to developers

Deutsche Telekom is providing the M2M Toolkit to developers and application solution providers to simplify and accelerate their M2M application development. The kit includes product-ready devices and a complete suite of developer tools. For developers, it will be easier to build M2M applications in a wide range of products, ranging from an intelligent blood meter to a complete smart home solution. Therefore it facilitates the process to offer value added services by leveraging the data gathered from machines.

Deutsche Telekom AG and Intel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on M2M technologies, tool kits and development of standards that will enable developers to more easily design wireless M2M solutions on 3G, WiFi, or Zigbee with a “Smart Service Developer Kit” based on the Intel® Atom™ processor and Deutsche Telekom’s network and connectivity service.

“By providing the M2M Toolkit, Deutsche Telekom reinforces its long-term commitment to the growth of M2M segment, to bring innovative developers and application solution providers to the M2M eco-system, to support them to explore the segment with Deutsche Telekom’s assets, and to enable them to succeed in the new ‘Internet-of-things’ world!” says Jürgen Hase, Vice President M2M Competence Center, Deutsche Telekom AG.

“Connecting billions of devices to enable rich classes of smart services requires persistent device connectivity, security, and manageability” said Kevin Johnson, director of Connected Devices for Intel’s Embedded and Communications Group. “The combination of the new M2M Toolkit based on the Intel® Atom™ processor with Deutsche Telekom’s network and connectivity services enables a faster rate of innovation and time to market for M2M solutions.”
