Lisbon, Portugal — A new telecom start-up business that offers a pan-European mobile virtual network has announced the ‘soft launch’ of its services. Based in Lisbon, CoSwitched aims to provide an easy way to manage your connected machines across Europe by connecting devices to the internet using GSM links in more than 20 countries.

CoSwitched is an Internet of Things (IoT) mobile virtual network operator (MVNO)

CoSwitched is an Internet of Things (IoT) mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides voice, messaging and data services to facilitate machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. It also provides a platform to manage and monitor the machines’ connectivity.

Co-founder, Bruno Duarte has a track record of nearly 10 years in the telecom industry, with operators and vendors of all sizes. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Lisbon and an MBA from Imperial College, London, UK. He commented: “IoT is the most exciting and one of the fastest growing markets at the moment. Machines can be connected to the internet using many technologies. Traditional operators and their partners dominate the GSM connectivity service, however times have changed. We truly believe that the industry lacks a different type of connectivity provider. CoSwitched aims to disrupt the market with a simple, affordable and no frills and no boundaries value proposition. We expect to have between 10-15,000 GSM connections in the first year.”

CoSwitched has a direct-to-market strategy through an online shop. End users and manufacturers of machines can order SIM cards from the shop and manage them immediately. Its SIM cards with a Basic pricing plan are available from €1.50 per month (including VAT) and include 5 megabytes of data per month in 23 countries. CoSwitched SIM cards can be ordered now from the online shop, and the company also has local presence in Portugal, the UK and France.
