Cisco acquires US webtech firm Assemblage Inc to help employees collaborate through IoT

San Jose, California, USA — Cisco Systems Inc has acquired the San Francisco-based firm, Assemblage Inc. Assemblage is working on collaboration technology that supports the Internet of Things (IoT), or as Cisco describes it the Internet of Everything (IoE). Terms of the deal have not be disclosed.

Assemblage aims to provide the tools and the infrastructure “to enable a new kind of simple, real-time interconnectedness between people, companies and browsers. Our collaboration solutions work directly in the browser, on mobile and desktop.”

Assemblage’s products aim to provide simple, easy-to-use solutions that help employees work smarter together from virtually anywhere, and its solutions do not require any downloads or plugins. Its products include: Kollaborate.io, for online meetings with full HD video and voice; Presentation.io, beaming presentation to your mobile device; and Same.io enabling mobile screen sharing.

Assemblage’s technology also integrates with popular third party cloud services and supports 40 different file types to enable quick and efficient collaboration.”

With this acquisition, Cisco’s Collaboration Technology Group (CTG) is taking on a new team of engineers with deep web development expertise, enabling the San Jose-based giant to accelerate innovation and develop simple, easy to use, next generation collaboration solutions.
