Ventyx Outage Lifecycle Management named Overall Winner at European Utility Week Product Innovation Awards

Ventyx-v1

Ventyx, an ABB company, has announced the company’s Outage Lifecycle Management (OLM) solution has been named the “Overall Winner” in the Product Innovation Awards at the European Utility Week conference and exhibition in Amsterdam, where more than 350 solution providers from across the globe displayed their solutions.

Ventyx OLM is the complete solution for outage lifecycle management to help utilities more effectively manage the end-to-end process for minimising the impact of major storm outages. The solution was selected as overall winner, as well as the winner for Smart Metering, ICT & Grid Security award, based on key criteria:

  • Originality. Ventyx is the first vendor to design a solution addressing market requirements across the full scope of outages – from planning and preparation, to communications with customers, through to final restoration of service and regulatory reporting.
  • Sustainability/efficiency. The post-event capture and feedback of outage event information into the next planning/preparation cycle (full circle feedback/process) creates a continuous improvement loop that drives ever-increasing operational efficiency and sustained savings over time.
  • Practicality. Ventyx built the solution from a base of proven, tested products, which makes its delivery more economical to customers who have one or more of the existing components, and it reduces the risks of realising the vision and first steps in the OLM roadmap.

“On top of numerous daily challenges, new threats like extreme weather conditions, cyber threats and rising global demand have created the ‘perfect storm’ for utilities to rethink how they manage energy outages,” said Jens Birgersson, head of ABB’s Network Management Business Unit. “Ventyx designed OLM to help our customers weather the storm by better planning, preparing and responding to outages to minimise their overall impact and duration. We are pleased that the European Utility Week judges recognised the value of this powerful solution, and we are proud to be selected as overall winner from among so many innovative solutions at this year’s conference.”

Attendees at 2014 European Utility Week received a wealth of information on Ventyx OLM. Not only were new implementations of the solution at CLK Enerji and City of Cape Town announced at the show; Wipro, which is leading the implementation at CLK, joined Ventyx and CLK for a joint seminar focused on outage lifecycle management. Those who couldn’t attend the conference can learn more on the Ventyx website, or by attending a December 2 webinar entitled “Managing Outages before They Manage You.”
