Numerex strengthens executive team with CMO and CRO appointments

Numerex Corp has announced the appointment of Shu Gan as chief marketing officer (CMO) and Vin Costello as chief revenue officer (CRO) in newly created executive management positions. Shu and Vin both served with Numerex CEO Marc Zionts on prior executive teams at Aicent and Allot Communications.

With more than 25 years of management experience in the high-tech and wireless industries, Shu Gan will be responsible for product management, strategic market development and marketing for Numerex. Shu most recently served as corporate VP and GM of Strategic Solutions at Syniverse. Prior to Syniverse, he served as EVP at Aicent, a global leader in mobile data interconnection services, where he led multiple functions spanning product management, marketing, strategic BD, and global sales as the company grew from startup stage to market leadership serving 200+ carriers worldwide, with most of its products and services ranked among the top three in global market share. Shu has also held executive positions for Danghong Technologies and FutureDial, both pioneering software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from Peking University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from University of California at Berkeley.

Vin Costello will oversee sales strategy, business development and revenue generation for Numerex. Previously, Vin served as President and VP of Sales of the Americas for Allot Communications, a leading provider of mobile, fixed and enterprise network solutions for service providers, carriers and enterprise. In that position, he was instrumental in major revenue growth and enabling the creation of unique business units for North and South America. Earlier in his career, Vin held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at NYNEX, where he founded and led the NYNEX Network Integration business unit. Upon the merger with Bell Atlantic, Vin was named President and CEO of Bell Atlantic Network Integration (BANI) where he grew the start-up business to $325 million in annual revenue and 1,200 employees in four years, eventually becoming part of Verizon Communications. After serving as Corporate Vice President of Global Sales, Vin helped lead an optical networking start-up Corvis Corporation, where he served as VP of Sales and assisted in achieving an initial public offering which exceeded $1B. He was subsequently named VP and General Manager of the Managed Storage Division of Broadwing after the Corvis acquisition. Vin graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in computer applications and information systems from New York University and holds a master’s degree in telecommunications management, where he also graduated magna cum laude, from Polytechnic University.
