Trimble acquires PocketMobile to accelerate its development in the field-to-office mobility market

John Cameron, general manager, Trimble's Field Service Management Division

Trimble has acquired privately held PocketMobile headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.

PocketMobile is a European provider of enterprise mobile workforce solutions for international customers in the areas of postal service and logistics, security, and field service. The acquisition accelerates Trimble’s development in the high-growth field-to-office mobility market.

The financial terms were not disclosed.

PocketMobile’s PreCom platform is a scalable, enterprise mobility platform for companies with a large mobile work force. These customers often have complex and business critical processes, with information-heavy and time critical requirements, and multiple backend systems. The PreCom platform provides functionality templates and tools that enable system integrators or the customer to efficiently build, configure and maintain mobile solutions, tailored to their unique workflows. PreCom seamlessly connects the field-to-office and simplifies work processes. The PreCom platform provides a scalable and flexible single system, which supports multiple mobile workforce users, devices and workflows. PocketMobile’s partner network includes more than 150 certified developers and system integrators with a PreCom Center of Excellence. The PreCom platform is used in more than 25 countries.

The market outlook for platform-based mobile workforce solutions is growing rapidly as technology shifts to smart phones, new mobile operating systems and the requirement to quickly introduce new services.

“Field-to-office mobility has become one of the most strategically important components of an organisation’s operational structure with a mobile workforce,” said John Cameron, general manager of Trimble’s Field Service Management Division. “Trimble’s focus is to transform the workplace of the future by providing mobility tools to businesses to drive agility, efficiency and insight across the organisations’ operations. PocketMobile’s strong position and proven expertise in mobile enterprise solutions can further expand our reach into new verticals and accelerate our development in the field-to-office mobility market.”

“We are very excited to join Trimble. We share Trimble’s vision of leveraging mobile technologies to solve our customer’s challenges across a number of industries,” said Anders Tormod, general manager of PocketMobile.

“In addition to the continued focus on customer support and our core markets, the acquisition will enable us to expand PocketMobile’s reach with Trimble’s global footprint. This is truly an exciting time for PocketMobile and our customers, who can also benefit from Trimble’s comprehensive portfolio of solutions.”

PocketMobile will be reported as part of Trimble’s Mobile Solutions segment.
