CalAmp announces four new wireless devices for Mobile Resource Management

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. February 27, 2012 — CalAmp Corp. a provider of wireless products and services has introduced four new GPRS and HSPA wireless communications products for Mobile Resource Management (MRM) applications.

These new products will provide CalAmp customers with robust, reliable wireless data communications for local fleet management, insurance, trailer tracking, vehicle finance, stolen vehicle recovery and remote start applications.

CalAmp’s new Location Messaging Unit (LMU) and Trailer Tracking Unit (TTU) products provide global positioning satellite (GPS) tracking and cellular-based wireless communications capabilities for monitoring and tracking 12-volt and 24-volt vehicles. The new products are equipped with low-power 16G-force accelerometers capable of measuring hard braking, hard acceleration and collision events. Each product employs CalAmp’s PEG(TM) (Programmable Event Generator) and PULS(TM) (Programming, Update and Logistics System), the company’s on-board alert engine and over-the-air device management and maintenance application, respectively. The new products also feature an integrated wireless antenna designed to deliver excellent performance and expand installation flexibility.

These new additions to CalAmp’s wireless data communications product portfolio for MRM include the following:
— LMU-2000 is a tracking product for fleet management and insurance markets.
— LMU-2200 is intended for discreet installation for fleet management and insurance market applications.
— The LMU-2700 is a flexible, professionally installed product for fleet management.
— The TTU-2800 is a water-sealed product designed to meet the environmental and extended operations requirements of the trailer tracking and fleet management markets.

“At CalAmp we’re dedicated to creating value-based products that deliver on both price and performance for a wide range of solutions in MRM applications,” said Greg Gower, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CalAmp’s MRM business. “Our latest wireless data communications products offer the added value of measuring actual driving performance — speed, braking, cornering, and impact — giving our customers the ability to identify and correct risky driving behavior, thereby minimizing driving risk, improving operating efficiency, protecting their drivers and vehicles, and reducing overall transportation costs.”
