Eurotech launches the ReliaGATE 10-05, a compact and efficient IoT Gateway

Eurotech, a provider of embedded systems, machine-to-machine (M2M) platforms and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, launched the ReliaGATE 10-05, a compact and efficient IoT Gateway for industrial applications that has been designed to comply with global certification requirements.

The ReliaGATE 10-05 is the latest addition to a family of software-defined IoT Gateways, designed to provide well balanced products in terms of performance, features and price, for many typical IoT applications.

Based on the NXP i.MX285 CPU, with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of eMMC and a user-accessible microSD slot, the ReliaGATE 10-05 is a low power Gateway that offers reliable operation in industrial applications: it supports a 9 to 36V power supply with transient/surge/noise/reverse polarity protection, two protected serial ports (RS-232 and RS-485), and one noise and surge protected USB port.

One unique feature of the ReliaGATE 10-05 is the internal battery that provides up to 30 minutes of uptime and allows for a safe system shutdown in case of a blackout.

The ReliaGATE 10-05 features wired and wireless connectivity capabilities: it integrates a cellular modem (2G or global 3G), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and one Fast Ethernet port.

Installing the ReliaGATE 10-05 is very easy since it’s very small, with a total volume of just 112x68x37mm (LxWxH) and lightweight, at just 180g; mounting options include a DIN bar adapter.

“This new IoT Gateway addresses applications that were difficult to support with existing industrial designs from a price/footprint/feature perspective,” said Giuseppe Surace, Eurotech CPO. “The ReliaGATE 10-05 is combination of a hardware platform and Eurotech’s IoT middleware for embedded Java application development. It is available in a range of configurations that are optimised to fit typical IoT use cases.”

The ReliaGATE 10-05 comes with Yocto Linux 1.6 and includes a genuine Oracle Java SE Embedded 8 Virtual Machine; it also provides Everyware™ Software Framework (ESF), a commercial, enterprise-ready edition of Eclipse Kura, the open source Java/OSGi middleware for IoT Gateways.

For ease of programmability and additional flexibility of applications, the ReliaGATE 10-05 comes with the genuine Oracle Java SE Embedded 8 Virtual Machine and the Everyware™ Software Framework (ESF), a commercial, enterprise-ready edition of Eclipse Kura, the open source Java/OSGi middleware for IoT Gateways. Distributed and supported by Eurotech, ESF adds advanced security, diagnostics, provisioning, remote access and management thanks to its full integration with Everyware™ Cloud (EC), Eurotech’s IoT integration platform (available separately).

In addition to the standard configurations, Eurotech offers many personalisation options (MOQ might apply) for the ReliaGATE 10-05, including:

 Feature depopulation/population

– Derivative designs

Branding options (device colour, logo, etc)

Used stand-alone, or in conjunction with EC, the ReliaGATE 10-05 provides a fast go-to-market solution for projects of any size. RELIAGATE 10-05 will be generally available from May 2016.
