BMW showcases ‘Vision Next 100’ claiming to offer ‘the most intelligent driving car of the future’

Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management at
BMW AG

German car manufacturer, BMW Group, has unveiled the ultimate intelligent driving car of the future to celebrate 100 years of its existence. BMW showcased a prototype of the car to represent the future of vehicles for next 100 years.

It is an emission-free vehicle with gold paint and triangle crosshatching. They have built this car with both automatic drive and self-driving modes, as majority of cars in the future will be self-driving.

Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG predicted that the car would be developed in next 20 to 30 years. He said, “At the BMW Group, we are always on a quest for the best solution. It’s part of our DNA. It’s also the spirit of our collaborations, a recurring theme that permeates our corporate and leadership culture.”

He believes that there are three qualities that set BMW Group apart from other automakers – the capacity to learn and adapt, technological innovation, and a sense of responsibility toward society. He added, “We have demonstrated on many occasions throughout our history that we are capable of learning fast and taking bold steps.”

The Vision Next 100 car uses a combination of the Ultimate Driver mode and Alive Geometry to create an ideal driving experience. Ultimate Driver concept comprises of two modes – boost and ease. In boost mode, brain of car, called companion, learns about the driver’s preferences and provides intelligent assistance to enhance experience of driving.image001

In ease mode, autonomous self-driving mode is on and all controls of car are retracted back into car. Alive geometry concept is about fusing analogue and digital. The dashboard communicates messages in three dimension using 800 moving triangular shapes.

To clarify this concept, executives at BMW said, “The triangles work in much the same way as a flock of birds in controlled flight, their coordinated movements acting as signals that are easily comprehensible to those inside the car.”

A vision of BMW is to provide effortless and readily available premium mobility as per individual preferences of customers. This implies that future cars will be connected to phone, home, computer, and entertainment systems. BMW executive emphasised on the importance of dreaming in this business.

They stated that the concept is hypothetical, but this car is a signal of what BMW will do in coming years to stay ahead of the everyone else in personal transportation industry.
