The Middle East is in the nascent stage of foraying into the Smart Grids sector with successful deployment of pilot programs of Smart Meters fueled by further expansion in various parts of the GCC.
With energy consumption forecast to double by 2020, there has to be a way to meet the demand for power reliably and efficiently while reducing unwanted environmental emissions. The GCC has a vision of reducing CO2 by enabling 3% of its electricity generation reductions through renewable and variable sources. This will be followed by achieving the same up to 7% by 2050.
The 2nd Annual Smart Grids and Smart Meters Summit aims at addressing the challenges and opportunities of the Utilities and Government bodies through a forum of experts and industry leaders who will brain-storm on how to upgrade the existing power grids by integrating the Smart Grid technologies for the Middle East market.
The Summit will be held in Abu Dhabi that has been a pioneer in launching the Smart Meters and has an ambitious vision to achieve a sustainable future for the U.A.E.
